Sunshine Coast group logistics: airport, resorts and hinterland

The Sunshine Coast is a string of towns, and the airport sits between Maroochydore and Noosa. The planning question is rarely distance; it is peak-season parking at the places groups want to go.

Marcoola or Brisbane

The drive from the Marcoola terminal (MCY) to Ocean Street in Maroochydore is about 11 km, 12 to 15 minutes. The airport's transport map marks a Private Transfers zone out front, on Friendship Avenue. There is no published coach waiting area and the kerb is for immediate loading only, so the driver times arrival to the group reaching the doors.

Brisbane Airport is about 105 to 110 km south, 75 to 90 minutes by road. Groups on routes that Marcoola does not serve come in this way. Split the arrivals by flight and landing time and the quote will show each vehicle's run.

Conference transfers at Twin Waters and Caloundra

Twin Waters' convention centre is five minutes' drive from the terminal, which lets a fly-in, fly-out board meeting run without an overnight stay. At the Caloundra venue, the Kings Theatre seats up to 815; plan hotel loops from Caloundra and Mooloolaba accordingly.

The Bokarina stadium holds about 20,000 after its upgrades. Choose one pickup point outside the main gates and share the departure time with the group before kick-off.

Where parking runs out

Noosa parking at Hastings Street and the national park fills at peak times, and the Park Road car park can be full before 8am in school holidays. Set the group down, send the vehicle away and fix a collection time. Eumundi Markets run Wednesday and Saturday mornings with limited parking; arrive early. Australia Zoo parking is free but busy in holidays.

On the Blackall Range, the roads to Montville and Maleny are narrow and winding. The operator checks the route before confirming a full-size coach; a smaller vehicle is often the better fit. A guided walk in a national park needs a tour operator holding a Queensland Parks permit, which is separate from the transport.

Questions

How long from the airport to a Noosa hotel?

Noosa Heads is about 35 to 40 minutes from Maroochydore; from Marcoola, which is on the way, it is less. Add holiday traffic on Hastings Street.

Can a coach take a group to Australia Zoo from Brisbane Airport?

Yes. The zoo is about an hour's drive from Brisbane Airport and has free parking. It opens 9am to 5pm daily.

Does the transfer include a guide for Noosa National Park?

Not automatically. Guided tours need a permit held by the tour operator. Tell us if the group wants guiding, and it is arranged with a permit holder.
