Canberra Airport (CBR): agreeing the meeting point in advance
Canberra Airport publishes no coach or charter pickup point and no staging area. For a delegation or a school group, the operator and organiser settle the meeting spot ahead of time, and it is written into every traveller's instructions.
What the terminal offers
Arrivals is at ground level, with public buses stopping kerbside. Cars can use free 10-minute bays in the RED outdoor car park, a two-minute walk away, and an Express Pick-Up Lounge sits on the ground floor of an indoor car park, a 20-metre covered walk away. Departures work from the upper roadway, next to the Departures Hall and check-in desks.
Those options suit cars. For a coach, the operator confirms where it will collect, and the quote should state that spot in plain words.

Delegations and executive cars
Much Canberra work is a few senior people on tight timings: a flight in, a meeting in the Parliamentary Triangle, a flight out. Executive cars handle that best. Civic is about 8.5 km away and the ACT has no toll roads, so the variable is the meeting, not the drive. Build a buffer between the scheduled finish and the departure time.
Transfer time to the CBD
- about 8.5 km by road to Civic (City Walk), about 12-15 min in light traffic; under 20 min on the Rapid 3 bus

Venues and school programs
The National Convention Centre is on Constitution Avenue in Civic, and EPIC in Mitchell hosts larger exhibitions. School groups claiming the PACER rebate must cover at least three of four set institutions: Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, the National Electoral Education Centre, the Museum of Australian Democracy. Each has its own arrival rules; at the War Memorial, coaches get limited space on Treloar Crescent's eastern side.
Onward to the snow
For ski groups, the airport's own transport list includes shuttles to the Snowy Mountains resorts. In Kosciuszko National Park, two-wheel-drive vehicles must carry chains on the main roads for the whole season, June long weekend through to October long weekend, so confirm the vehicle is equipped.
Questions
Is there a public bus if someone misses the group?
Yes. Rapid 3 links the terminal with the City interchange at 15-minute intervals on weekdays and 30-minute intervals at weekends, in under 20 minutes.
Can a coach park at the terminal while delegates collect bags?
The airport publishes no coach staging area, so the vehicle is timed to the group being ready. The operator confirms the arrangement in advance.
We are flying into Sydney instead. How far is it?
About three hours by road. Quote it as a separate long transfer, with a comfort stop if the group wants one.
