Cruise terminal transfers timed to disembarkation
A cruise transfer hangs on three times: when the ship berths, when the group clears the terminal and when the flight closes. The vehicle is booked to the middle one.
Each terminal works differently
Sydney's Overseas Passenger Terminal has no parking and no waiting bays on ship days. Ground staff send coach passengers to a dedicated pickup point, and drop-offs on the lower roadway are limited to two minutes with the driver staying at the wheel. For White Bay on ship days, drivers must come in from The Crescent along James Craig Road.
At Station Pier in Port Melbourne, arriving passengers leave through the Gatehouse and private pickups use the car park at the pier entrance. Brisbane's terminal at Luggage Point admits only coaches pre-booked by that day's cruise lines; any other charter connection needs advance approval from both the port company and the parking contractor. In Hobart, anything larger than a 12-seater arranges its pickup with TasPorts at least 48 hours ahead.
Timing the airport leg
At the Overseas Passenger Terminal, passengers start coming off roughly half an hour after arrival, and big groups take longer. From Circular Quay, Sydney Kingsford Smith is about 25 to 40 minutes by road. Brisbane's terminal is about 15 minutes from the airport but has no public transport, so settle the transfer before sailing. Station Pier to Melbourne Airport is about 30 to 45 minutes; Fremantle to Perth Airport about 35 to 45.

Embarkation day
For the outbound leg, Sydney's port authority wants passengers there a clear hour before the ship leaves. At Station Pier, a vehicle dropping off needs the cruise line's approval before Gatehouse security lets it onto the pier. In Brisbane, anything over 6.5 m long goes to the Coach & Shuttle Area rather than the two-minute loop.

Can the coach wait at the Overseas Passenger Terminal?
No. There are no waiting bays for pickups, so the coach is timed to the pickup point the ground staff use, loads and leaves.
Can a charter coach enter the Brisbane terminal?
Only with prior agreement from Port of Brisbane and the car park operator, unless the coach is booked through the cruise line. Raise it when you request the quote.
What about a private transfer in Hobart?
Shore excursion coaches are staged beside the ship. A pre-booked vehicle with fewer than 12 seats parks in a 2P voucher space and the driver walks to the terminal; larger vehicles need TasPorts' agreement 48 hours ahead.
