Fremantle Passenger Terminal: Transfers for Perth Cruises

Fremantle is the cruise port for Perth, and the Passenger Terminal on Victoria Quay is about 800 m from the town centre. Plan ship, airport and hotel as one chain of movements.

Ship-day arrangements at the quay

The terminal is on Peter Hughes Drive. A ship may tie up at the Passenger Terminal itself or at D Berth, which is on Victoria Quay too, so confirm the berth with the line close to the date. When a ship is in, the terminal's car park handles pick-ups and drop-offs and nothing else; cars cannot stay for the length of a voyage.

Customs, security and quarantine checks apply to everyone, boarding or leaving, and happen inside the building. On a turnaround day that processing sets the pace, so book the pick-up for a realistic exit time rather than the berthing time.

Perth Airport has two precincts

Perth Airport is about 30 km away. Its terminals sit in two precincts, T1/T2 and T3/T4, around ten minutes' drive apart. Collect every passenger's airline and flight number before the job is set; a coach sent to the wrong precinct loses time the connection needs.

Western Australia has no toll roads, and drivers carrying passengers for hire need an annually renewed PTD (passenger transport driver) authorisation.

Terminals

  • Visiting cruise ships berth at the Passenger Terminal or at D Berth, also on Victoria Quay
  • Fremantle Passenger Terminal, Peter Hughes Drive, Victoria Quay, about 800 m from Fremantle's city centre
  • Run by Fremantle Ports

Hotels and a half-day in town

A group staying in the Perth CBD needs a legal loading point, because City of Perth loading zones are closed to buses, even for a quick passenger stop. In Fremantle, the council publishes a map of tour coach bays, and Fremantle Prison has coach bays outside and on Parry Street, which makes a pre-sailing tour easy to stage.

Questions

Is there a shuttle between the station and the terminal?

On turnaround days a free shuttle has run about every 20 minutes from Fremantle station, from roughly one hour after berthing through to about 4 pm.

How far is the train station on foot?

About ten minutes, or about twenty with luggage. Trains run to Perth with connections to the airport.

Where can passengers park for the cruise?

Cruise-length parking is offered in Zone 3, toward the quay's western end, or in Fremantle car parks such as Kings Square.
